Monochrome

Sophie wearing a White Top Shop Blazer

My glamourous sister Sophie is modelling here for the Monochrome shoot. I love this trend as I naturally go for black and white pieces, especially for a more formal event. I decided to style a dinner date outfit and mixed it up with the fun Fleetwood Mac motif tee. Listening to Fleetwood Mac always puts me in a good mood!

Snow and Wool

Belted Wool Coatigan Outfit

It always amazes me how snow can dramatically change a landscape. In just a few hours a weary view can be refreshed into a sparkling mass of tiny white crystals. In this bitter weather I’m making the most of layering up with wools!

I thought my charcoal woollen coatigan would be appropriate for the snowy jaunt. It is super cosy for both indoors and for wearing out in the cool dry weather. I found it in the last reductions at French Connection just as winter was about to set in and paired it with this pony hair effect belt to add shape. The fingerless wool mittens were knitted for me as a present for use while filming and the felt fedora was another sale buy. I’m always on the look out for a bargain!

Sophie and I underestimated the wind which whipped through the valley. I nearly lost the fedora on several occasions! I also had to sit on my fingers to warm them up for a good while after the shoot. Ah the things we do for the sake of art!

Sequins and Sunlight

There is that one item in everyone’s wardrobe that is left unworn with the tags still attached. In my case it is an elegant French Connection sequin and teal dress. I’m the type of person who buys little and wears often, so the dress is just asking to be worn. It would be perfect for a classy cocktail event or posh New Year’s Eve party. The problem is I haven’t as yet been invited to such an occasion. So, until my invite arrives I thought I’d share it on film and through photographs (to follow).

I’ve used the technique of lens whacking to create a dream like effect in the film. I hope you enjoy watching.

Standing by the River

January wouldn’t be January without the sales. I had my eye on these Zara oxblood jeans for a while and quickly purchased them as soon as the sale was launched! A bit late on the whole oxblood wagon I know, but better late than never.

The quilted jacket was another Zara buy. Shopping in the sales inevitable means leaving with a couple of full price items. This black jacket being one example I just couldn’t resist. The mittens and boots are Crew Clothing Co and the bag is a vintage buy.

The mild weather allowed me to take a nice stroll along Durham’s river, while stopping for a quick Cappuccino.
